  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 cups milk
  • 12-ounce can beer
  • 10.5 ounche can condensed chicken broth
  • 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (12 ounces)
  • 10 slics bacon, crisp-cooked, drained and crumbled
